ferret15 0
OK my friends Guinea pig died (old age) last night and her son asked her what she was going to do with it she said bury it and his reply was why dont you feed it to Marie's ferrets she replied no that would upset your sister. my question is if your pet be it Guinea pig or other died would you feed it to the ferrets. yes or no and why Quote Link to post
MikeTheDog 153
Because you would not be 100% sure it had a clean demise free from any infectious disease. And for the same reason I would not feed a dead pet/working dog to my ferrets........It's totally immoral, and I can't for the life of me think why I have answered such a fecking stupid question..... Must be an age thing! Quote Link to post

ferret15 0
i wouldn't because of the emotional attachment to my pets. what I'm asking is if the only reason you wouldn't is because of the its a pet thing. some people breed animals to feed other animals. my granddad used to breed rabbits to eat, it was my job to look after them i never could bring my self to eat them because i had looked after them. but if you think about it this is because i humanized them by giving them names and caring for them. i dont have any problem eating the ones i catch or feeding them to the ferrets. and i cant be sure they are disease free. i just wondered if the fact i couldn't feed a pet to my ferrets was a girl thing or if it was universal. because when we said no. my mates son wanted to know why not and the only answer i could give him was because it a pet. and i definitely didn't mean dog ( being mans best friend and all that. MikeTheDog 153
Kids, they ask too many questions.. My father used to breed rabbits for the local fishmonger to sell, yea fishmonger not the butcher , I was forbidden to make a fuss of all except the stud buck! Quote Link to post

ianrob 2
In a way this is a good question because quite a lot of commercially produced pet foods do contain euthenased pets, so perhaps we are self deluding. I couldn't cope, but that's me. There is only yourself to cope with here. Though the mother in law, naw, I'd get caught sure as a guinea pig's a ferrets dinner. Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
I wouldn't feed my kids pets to my ferrets full stop, I don't get all anthropamorhic and treat them like little people, they are animals but they are different to the wild animals I kill as part of my hunting.
