Ruster 9
I am looking at what gun safe to get for when i give in my application for a shotgun but i dont know if the gun i have coming will fit without being broken down and was hoping someone here could enlighten me please. The gun is a browning ultra xs prestige with 30" barrels + chokes it has a standard butt pad atm but i believe there is a thicker gel one with it but if thats an issue i can leave it off since the gun is very comfortable as is. The safe is a JFC 5 gun full shotgun cabinet: Ext Dimensions: (HxWxD) 1325 x 301 x 221mm Is this high enough to fit the gun without risk of dinking it every time i put it in/out of the safe? P.s i apologise for all the noob questions i have asked but i also thank you all for the help you have all been super informative and made my previous decisions much easier. Quote Link to post
Notlish 1
Not a daft question. I once bought what I thought was a VFM rifle cabinet, wasn't sweep enough for the scopes! It's sounds tall enough, but has it got an internal lockable compartment? Some shotty cabinets do. Quote Link to post
Ruster 9
No it is just one space inside no compartments, i was staying clear of them Quote Link to post
Notlish 1
Dead easy in that case. Measure length of your shotty, the walls of the cabinet won't be that thick. Quote Link to post
Ruster 9
I don't have access to it yet i am still just about to apply for my licence and my friend who i am getting the gun from is away for the next few days (bloody typical) i was hoping to get moving on the safe/ application asap but if it saves me £150 on a safe that i will have to take the gun apart to store it i guess waiting a few days wont hurt Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
Yeh not a daft question..my gp greener has to broken down as its got one hell of a long barrel. ...and they're not the easiest guns to break down! Quote Link to post
celticrusader 78
Its not that bad I just have to make sure I got a 50 pence piece with me to untighten the flathead bolt and unwind it then unscrew the barrel and for end...saying that its much easier with most other shotguns especially o/u's. Mine just about fits in the cabinet below the top shelf, its a 30" with an original removable choke, which makes it too long if I leave it fitted, Its my squirrel drey gun, the choke is stupidly tight. Mind you, the gun does have a picture of an elephant on it Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,751
If it is any help my miroku with 32 1/2" barrels and extended stock measures 1300mm Also, if it's any help, that 'extended stock' of Dan's is fooking massive so if that's under 1300mm every other gun in the country will be! RemyBolt 420
Fair question. If your local gun shop has one in, phone them up and ask them to measure it up for you, including chokes. My local shop is Sportman Gun Centre, and they're helpful beyond belief. But they are not the cheapest....which isn't an issue most the time. I'm sure they'd be very happy to help.
