zandy01 3,575 Posted June 24, 2014 Report Share Posted June 24, 2014 Others have all mentioned brands which are good but more importantly, go for a hard tail (front suspension only) as if you went for full suss you'd be knackered trying to pedal up any hills as the rear shock would take all weight and momentum making it proper hard work for yourself... eBay, guntree and www.pinkbike.com is excellent but little more too end market... Tange prestige is probably the best steel format (colombus and 853 is a stiffer racing steel/less flex/less compliant). Shimano aftermarket parts are readilly available and anything from LX upwards is gud, xt is a bonus and xtr is for the gary glitters. I see so many people riding bikes with their knees up in the air, arse on the floor etc etc. To ride it properly/efficiently it needs setting up properly.
