NEWKID 27,143
After putting a post up inc photos of a couple of bass I caught on the fishing section, It was pointed out that they looked under size ( they weren't which I showed by putting a tape beside them) photos are deceiving and can be misconstrued. But topics would be boring IMO without the odd photo, I don't mind being pulled by people in the right way ( perhaps a pm), but by pointing out a potential issue for all to read are we not fuelling a fire which isn't even there. I like most would never put a photo or thread up which would be damaging to myself or field sports, but if you see something which your concerned about wouldn't a quiet word be better than putting it on the post? bracken boy 584
Everybody loves a good old moan lol what you should have said was prove it or shut it as you know they wasnt undersize.
walshie 2,804
A p.m is by far the best way to deal with queries like that, but some people prefer to pick holes in everything publicly.

Lid 194
It was me that started it I think and I apologise if my post was taken in the wrong way. In fact I never said the fish was undersize - I simply asked if there is still a size limit and the discussion continued. Very soon it was clear the smaller fish was well over the size limit - which imo is good. However in the photo it is lying right next to the reel and using that as a guide, it did look short and that is the only reason I made any comment at all. I guess the reel is bigger than I thought. No malice or mischief was intended. I guess I could have asked how long is the smaller fish, but as I new member I thought it better to just ask if there is still a size limit and leave it at that. I am a member of several angling forums and I guess I have been influenced by the posting behaviour on them about pictures that are any less than perfect regarding welfare and rules etc! and yes - I will use a a PM next time I don't know why I didn' this time, as I moderate a local forum and use them all the time.I had nearly knocked myself out a few hours before, so I don't think my brain was fully functioning - perhaps that is why. I don't think this was aimed at you mate. As stated, you simply asked a question. It is referring to the smart-alec who TOLD the OP how big the fish was - apparently without having the correct facts to hand.

NEWKID 27,143
Firstly this is not a dig at anyone, if I was that concerned I would PM. The 2 comments made were perfectly acceptable, and trying to help/educate which is what this place should be about. Maybe I should've put a note up saying fish over legal size limit, but would that draw attention to the way the photo looked.... Along the lines of shot and retrieved beside a hare? I think we've just got to be careful what we post, but at the same time we need to be careful how we reply.. Hey ho, no harm done and they tasted bloody lovely lol
