Katsdad 31
What are peeps thoughts on ferreting this time of year? Reason being as I now have 7 hungry little mouths to feed they are going through a whole large bunny very other day and topping up with chicken wings and thighs is costing a bloody fortune, but if that's what it needs then so be it I won't scrimp on their welfare,so the reason for the question could I take the Jill out for a couple of hours and get me a few bunnys. rabbit demon 302
If it has to be done, it has to be done. Got to feed the baby's right. Iv no kits as of yet but I have 2 Jill's coming July, also 2 big hobs and a pup to feed.. il be out myself doing a bit next month just to feed them. They get fed well but one of my ferrets loses body condition when not getting fed whole raw rabbit or animal carcass. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
You will probably spend most of your time digging to nests of young. I have been feeding mine with wood pigeon taken with catapult and rabbits taken with air rifle. I will also take the pup out next week to get a few on the lamp to feed the ferts. 2 Quote Link to post

Nothing wrong with spoiling them. Free wood pigeon gotta be better than buying dry food? Don't get many flies in my garage. Odd one but nothing to cause any concern. Quote Link to post

The one 8,467
Don't think I would fancy it either you can see a big difference between flesh feed ferrets and dry feed kits. If I wasn't,t prepared I would be out with snares ,traps and lamping with the rimmy to feed them 1 Quote Link to post

vanman1 411
Without doubt meat reared ferrets do better, they seem more alert, stronger, coat seems better imo.I do use dry food but more of a backup than anything else ,if i get delayed at work etc its easy for the Mrs to fed em . Carcass all the way for me if poss 2 Quote Link to post
