First of all Neil82, I attended Bala yesterday and also Bodelwyddan. Bala simply was not in the same league as far as locality and general gamefair logistics were concerned. The parking wasnt a patch and the fencing clearly pointed to the whole exersise and objective --money. However the dog shows were a credit to the show organisers and the judges were fair and more than able to do the job every lurcher and terrier man wanted and expected.

Secondly, as I see it, WM's comments are a true record of the thoughts mirrrored in and around the show rings yesterday.

As a member of WAGBI from my early days and BASC from its foundation it saddens me to recognise the feeling of snobbery nowadays amongst the membership, especially directed towards the dog fraternity. Not everyone I must hasten to add, but the way the people of the lurcher and terrier scene who attended yesterdays show at Bala were spoken to by officials and I will add in 'welsh' amongst themselves was, quite simply disgusting.

Going back to the rallies I can picture now the thousands of working dog men that were proud to march forward and be counted. Having worked dogs, both terriers proffesionally and lurchers because i just love them, I've supported shows everywhere for over 40 years now. Ive succesfully ran many shows and judge shows. All my expenses have been donated to supporting clubs or towards hound costs or charities. My point neil being that without my fellow enthusiasts to support our shows were will it all go to?

WM you do have a very good point that Neil82 is dismissing, even in your own charactristics! BASC and it's fellow organiser really do need to be admitting to there mistake in 'wrongfully' advertising and valueing the support we give for the said organisation and for country sports. I still hold a WAGBI and BASC badge on my cap and after witnessing the behaviour and attitude of the officials representing BASC yesterday they like my membership will now be history.

Good luck Neil in your quest for further shows, by your statement its clear you see buisness to be the order of the day and I wish you luck in whatever company your alliance may well be with. For the true lurcher and terrier supporters I'd suggest forget Neils Burgers and stick to the proper dog shows run by true country sportsmen and women and move on!!

no business interests whatsoever in either of the shows, strictly a visitor, as I see it , the lack of stalls and visitors this year is probably down to the change in date and venue, in the past this has been held in august, as to the costs as you have arranged meets yourself maybe you could give us some idea about staffing costs and public liability insurance, toilets, waste disposal etc
