Kemperz21 65
I've read many times about keeping your dogs fit all year or starting on conditioning bike work an so on a few months before the season starts this all makes sense to have a fully fit dog when the season starts but the weather is so so hot at the moment and I think it will be right up to the start of the season so my question is how do you all keep your dogs proper fit I exercise mine at cooler times of day but it's still stupidly hot Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
5am start on the bike before work get them home wash them down if it's a warm day then back out walking in the evening I make sure there's a good bit of water about so they can have a dip if need be. If it's real warm I take them to abit of chalk stream down the road just walking against the current is good excersise but watch out for glass sat on the bottom. Edited to add I don't do any of this to keep them running fit it's just daily excersise IMO rest is as important as fitness and summertime is a good time to let there body's recuperate from the previous seasons graft I will be upping the excersise and changing food come July time ready for running locally beginning of October. Everybodies different though and what works for some won't for others. Atb. Edited June 19, 2014 by fitchet 3 Quote Link to post

If its a bit cooler in the day they follow the tractor when mowing. Edited June 19, 2014 by trenchfoot Quote Link to post

snoopdog 1,256
just keep them ticking over .if they aint chasing anything they will go at there own pace ..you can not keep a dog fully fit all year round.walks by lakes rivers streams ect.so they can take a drink none of my dogs swim they don't like it.. they paddle and that's it.lolol.summer time is rest time .and if they have had a hard season rest is the best cure ..fook bikeing them at this time of year. nice steady long walks by water.is good enough for mine ...plenty of time to get them fit come august time . 7 Quote Link to post
