Backing them is just lining yourself up for disappointment year after year. When they DO actually beat some deadbeat no-hope third world country in a friendly, they are unbearable and all the "We're gonna win the world cup" starts. When they have to put their considerable money where their mouths are, they aren't up to it. I think the very fact we have to go back to before man landed on the moon since they last won the world cup speaks volumes. Now we're going to have photos of them all crying like girls. They almost seemed to physically grow bigger, but our sorry shower, well....................... When our group was drawn, it was thought that everyone would beat Costa Rica, and England, Italy and Uruguay would duke it out for the second round. So how have this tiny country, which most couldn't find on a map, reached the second round with a match to spare, while our 'superstars' have been made to look ordinary - in fact, 'ordinary' would probably be an improvement ! Shambolic defending, players who didn't seem to want to get involved,schoolboy mistakes and conceding the type of goal you'd probably see on Hackney marshes every Sunday morning !
