Ossie n Arch 1,682
Not that iv'e seen and the river is very clear. Lots of Minnows in the side that seem to love Halibut groundbait, so plenty of baitfish. There's Grayling. But they are for another day, Iv'e never caught a Grayling. ...........I can feel another thread coming on. Fished the Trent a couple of weeks ago during some time off work. Had this amongst other things. First one ever, and from the Trent. Just shows how clean the river is now. I had about 10-11lbs of small fish, mainly Dace, Roach and Perch. Really enjoyed it TBH, made a nice change from not catching on the Dove. Waggler down the middle, the Stick close in when the wind allowed. But most of them on the pole. Bronze maggot. ...........Back on the Dove soon. 1 Quote Link to post

Ossie n Arch 1,682
Well. It's been a while, what with working most weekends and all. Iv'e just not managed to get out as often as i'd of liked. But as the river season is coming to an end, i'm having a day on the Trent tomorrow. Weather's not good, but a day fishing the feeder seems in order. Caster and Hemp, down the middle. Red maggot on the hook. Anyone else out, tight lines. Quote Link to post
dytkos 17,800
Good luck Cheers, D. 1 Quote Link to post
Ossie n Arch 1,682
Cheers D. Needed some divine intervention rather that luck today though. But they do say a bad days fishing is better than a good day at work, and thats about all I can say about todays effort. The usual section I fish - the wind is normally in your face, making float control difficult and bloody uncomfortable too. So had in mind to fish further downstream and from the other bank, thus avoiding having the wind in my face. Well, big schoolboy error. Watched the weather forcast before setting off this morning. Said the wind will be from the east - different direction than normal............So what did I do ?? Yep, thats right. Still went and fished the other section instead of my usual stretch. Fooking freezing. Rain, wind, straight in the kisser. Brolly wasn't doing much good. It's did stop raining around 9ish, so took the brolly down, but was still very cold. 2 1/2oz feeder at the start. 3 1/2oz by the end. The river came up 6" while is was there. Fished down the middle with Caster and Hemp in the feeder, Maggots on the hook. Fishing a big bow in the line, but still had the feeder moving about a lot. Very difficult fishing. Didn't bother putting a keep net in at the start, and it stayed in the carryall all day. Iv'e finished off my river campaign just as I started it.......With a blank, not even a bust Maggot. 2 Quote Link to post
