Silage Cut

Just been past farm and I see the grass fields have been cut for silage,ill nip out in about a hour with the .22 Rimfire see what's about?

Lots of good hay being made down here this weekend

 

I revisited some silage ground last week and was amazed how many moles had appeared

 

The bunnies will be enjoying that sweet young grass when it greens up a bit

a drop of rain on the cut grass will bring the munchers out from the cover

Well just got back in,manged 6 rabbits so ferrets fed for a bit and two three quarter grown for the BBQ

Nice shooting mate. I'm gonna try and get charlie tomorrow late afternoon the farmer has seen a fox about the yard like clockwork between 7-7.30pm for a week now so im gonna try and ambush it lol

They're cutting like crazy here just now, making the most of the weather.

 

Been out in the tractor and on the lamp a few times but I have one tricky Fox that has either been shot at or lamped before, he's going to be a tough character to get to grips with. Won't come within 250 yards and only shows his eye level above an earth bank.

 

Only downside to this time of year is the dreaded Hayfever.

After reading this post I thought I would take the kids for a walk to have a look in the cut fields. Didn't have a gun as just sold my air rifle to sort out my FAC and get a 17 hmr. Saw a couple rabbits and then my little girl says what's that dad look over and it was a badger looking for food about 25 yards out. Then it got spooked and walked towards us then right passed our feet kids were so happy they've only every seen badgers sleeping at the side of the road.

Cheers Mr TP. Bless the kids mate my daughter came with me duck shooting once we krept upto the pond then she shouts fly duckies my dads gonna shoot you that was it at least 5 lovely mallards took flight 60yards out to far for my 24" 12g. She hasn't been out since

At one of my permissions (my favourite one) the grass has been chopped, and the rabbits have disappeared. Totally changed location. I think I know where they are. Is this normal?

Haha nice one. My daughter just turned 10 a she loves coming out shooting rabbits with me she gets right stuck into gutting them too. So glad she's not a girly girl lol
