Elliott 436
Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Two really good groups at 135 yards considering it's a little .22LR Testing the CZ452 at 135 Yards: Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Inconsistency of propellant/rim/bullet weight, weather and luck/bad luck. Too few shots to make any real judgement, just the way it happens sometimes, do it again another day and the results will almost certainly be different. Quote Link to post
dadioles 68
Hi Elliott Assuming that all the bullets were out of the same box the most logical explanation is that your scope shifted. Ignoring the flier..... Your first group shot low and your second group shot high. It was not as though some bullets shot low and some high as you would expect if they were loaded differently or weighed differently. This was the first group, low - second group, high. As though 'something' changed between the shooting of the two groups. Each of the two groups is a similar size, so your shooting is consistent (and very good if I may say so). The question to be answered is what could cause a 'step change' between the two groups. I can only think of your scope moving a click or two. It would be too much coincidence (but possible?) for the first bullets to be heavy or slow and the next group to be light or fast. 2 Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Good shooting Elliott. The only suggestion i can think of other than what's been said is (maybe daft) Are you sure you didn't adjust for the drop with the second group using holdover. I've naturally done this when zeroing when i've not meant to lol 1 Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
Honestly I'm not sure what caused it. I'm sure I maintained the correct hold over but it is easily done. More experimentation required I think but I am really impressed with the CZ452 and Eley combo at the moment and I'm happy I spent the £150 on the rifle Edited June 14, 2014 by Elliott Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
I have a brno mod 2 and she loves eley subs. I use winchester subs which are not quite as accurate but are £1.50 a box cheaper. Trust me it's very easy to adjust when you see the bullets dropping lol Quote Link to post
slipper 116
Impressive groups, Winchester subs used to be like that but since they have changed the packaging the groups have got bigger and they don't seem to expand as well as they used to? Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
I found that Chris. Once ive changed the extraction claws on my .22 ill use eley again as mine jam with eley alot Quote Link to post

slipper 116
Sorry for the re post, why is that? To much wax on them? Have tried rws aswell but the hollow points were full of wax on some and not on others and they weren't that accurate even though they were the most expensive, sorry to hijack your post Elliott mate, you're groups were very good for that range not sure why they moved ?? shropshire dan 467
Not sure Chris. Must be down to wax unless the rim is slightly different. They jam in the extractor claws and I have to manually pick them out. Winchester never have done this. Quote Link to post
stillair1 16
Very nice grouping for that range. Were you resting the butt on a bag or something, just wondering if the resistance changed between groups. Quote Link to post

Were you resting the butt on a bag or something, just wondering if the resistance changed between groups. No rear bag, just using my hand. Think I'll invest in a cheek comb raiser to help with scope alignment. The stock on my CZ doesn't really promote a good head position, perhaps that's what it could have been Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Just make a temporary cheek comb raiser to see if it works before you lash out any cash. Quote Link to post
