doie1 22
May be a rookie question but does a scope need much of a knock to mess up the zero? Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Depends on the quality of the scope to be honest mate Quote Link to post
doie1 22
Kind of thought that might be the case, probably being over paranoid about it, I'm treating it like a new born baby lol Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
What scope is it mate? I have a mk1 Hawke eclipse 3-9x50 on my .22lr and have never had to zero it in 9 months and its had plenty of knocks. Same as the hmr I have a more expensive redfield 4-12x40 accurange and thats also never skipped a beat. Quote Link to post
doie1 22
Hawke reflex 3-9x40 on my HMR, zeroed it in yesterday and when putting it away gave it a knock, and thought great, but like I said maybe I'm worrying too much lol. What distance can you comfortable to shoot at with the redfiled scope? Maybe it's because I'm new to this but I kinda feel like I need a bit more magnification for 100m Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
150yards no problem. The scope is designed for CF rifles so a much greater distance than the hmr is capable of they are made in America along with leaupold scopes. The best thing with the redfield is the low light capabilities I can easily see out to 200yards using the scope when I struggle to see 100 with the eye. Don't worry its probably held zero fine I worried alot at first but never worry now. Edited June 14, 2014 by shropshire dan Quote Link to post

shropshire dan 467
haha. Uttings have them in at £299 with the accurange reticle same as mine, they really are great scopes for the money and i'm going to get another on for the .223 http://www.uttings.co.uk/p106530-redfield-revolution-4-12x40-rifle-scope/?gclid=CLX82c7r-b4CFWjmwgod1IAA_A#.U5x_mfldWfo 1 Quote Link to post
dadioles 68
Personally I like a higher magnification. My shooting tends to be more of the 'sniper' variety and I have time to set up the shot so do not have to worry too much about a wide field of vision. A rabbit head at 100 yards with just a 9x scope is still quite small. Comments about centrefire are not really relevant because of the size of the target. A head shot on a rabbit at 100 yards with an hmr is a smaller target than a shoulder / chest shot on a fox at 200 yards with a .223 Try a 24x scope, you don't have to use it at 24x but it is handy to have the possibility. shropshire dan 467
That's where personal preference comes in. I have my .22lr set at 6x mag and my hmr at 8x mag. Never use any other mag to be honest and thats just my preference Quote Link to post
