Guest Frank
I have seen a lurcher, quiet as a church mouse whist out lamping, only to bark like a looney after deer in a wood in the day time, the echo was defening!!!!!!!!! She only did it with deer, never owt else. She led to the arrest and prosecution of the owner, even though he was not into deer, she would pick up the scent and off like a march hare yapping for all of Ireland. The poor lad that had her, came across her one day, locked onto a deer and a deer stalker, with a police officer (Garda over here) approaching fast, hence the prosecution. Quote Link to post

snoopdog 1,256
to be honest yapping is one off them things in a dog i will not put up with .....its one of my worst fears when starting a young dog .....thats why i always give them the easiest oppertunity when doing so ...plent off droppers ....and make sure they are going to nail them ...some people can handle it good for them ...i couldnt its one off the most annouying things in a running dog ........i have never owned a yapper ...wether this is because the way i fetch a young dog on is the right way or ive been very lucky ...i have heard off exsperienced dog people bringing there young dog on in the correct way and still have ended up with a yapper .......so i proberly have been lucky ....there seems to be quite a few certain breeds that produce yappers ....useually with terrier in them ....i know off a few beddy whippets that have taken this annouing trait on .....but i suppose you can get a yapper in most breedings ....to me and imo....DROPPERS is the answer .......and plenty off them ..... ....all the best snoop ... boris b 1
dropped rabbits ( ferreted or such ) , dont worry about yapping when they run . yapping on game is a different kettle of fish . Quote Link to post
Guest Bunny Basher
Be careful fella if/when you take the advice given by "experienced" folk on here because if you "drop" ferreted rabbits for your dog it IS classed as baiting if you are caught . Quote Link to post
