Westy76 546 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 I'm having a bit of aggro getting permo sorted out on a local cricket pitch which they want me to control rabbits on and I need some help. The cricket club want me to deal with them but they have to go through red tape of parish,Surrey wildlife and council,the aggro seems to be how there dispatched. As shooting and wires are a no go due to footpaths and public access etc I've said ferreting and lamping which there happy with but the wildlife lot have said they must be shot to be dispatched,obviously I know that's not true and there not keen on the idea but is there any legislation etc that states that they can be killed humanely and quickly by any means out there I can provide so this can get signed off? Westy76 546 Posted June 10, 2014 Author Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) Thanks guys but all I'm looking for is dispatch methods that states how your allowed to knock them off that's the only sticking point as the wildlife mob said they can only be killed,even using ferret or dog with a gun after which there saying is the law but I've looked at the hunting act and it gives nothing about dispatch methods at all. Cage traps would be nicked in minutes socks as its a popular site with walkers etc but if I can get this I hopefully can get the rest of the land surrounding it. vanman1 411 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 You should be able to take em with an air rifle.Me and my father done a selective cull on a duck pond which is in a built up area/public access .We were only allowed between 12am and 5 am and had to notify local police etc but it is dooable never had a prob. beast 1,884 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 who owns the land, and are they the occupier or is the cricket pitch rented? as long as the wildlife people dont own or lease it i dont think its any of their business. as far as i'm aware, your arrangement would be with the occupier in the first instance, so the club should be able to authorise your permission without needing to check with any of those other busybodies. incidentally, i have permission from a local council on quite a few places, and they are not the slightest bit interested in how i dispatch rabbits, they just want to know how many i get from each site at the end of the season Quote Link to post Share on other sites
