I think it's just a case of stop f***ing about and get the f***ing thing ?? )

A slow to medium canter isn't stalking imo. Stalking to me is the silly skulking they do in the low to the ground stance. I seen dogs go down the beam real steady which at times is a god send due to

Where is it deemed a fault??? I personaly love to see it.   Pernod

a mate of mine got a dog passed on to him and he was telling me it sort of creeps around of the beam almost like a cat crawling in on a its prey and got the rabbit but gave the second one a really good run up and down the hedge

The dogs just using it's brains , instead of flat out down the lamp the rabbit turns and gets away , but stalk the lamp and force the rabbit into making the first move the the burst of speed And easy kill !! Best way forward the more energy saved the better the hunt

I'm not saying it's a fault but when the rabbits are a bit apprehensive and you need a dog that get to them and put them under pressure then it can be frustrating surely. I've seen dogs pressure a rabbit back out into a field that only a few moments ago looked like it was going to just pop into a hedge on it's own accord.

My old bitch would stalk down the beam and almost touch the rabbit but wouldn't strike till the rabbit moved, it was a pain in the arse sometimes but when you think about it, the thrill is in the run, why should it differ for them than us?

It's class even when the chase looks lost, the rabbit sometimes slowes before the headge just for a second then boom a unexpected burst of speed from you're dog and it's made the the kill , truth first 2 , 3 even 4 time I thought pure luck ,but then I noticed he was doing it all the time on headge hugging rabbits I thought to myself this pups got a talent comes back with the rabbit alive to hand then cocks his leg for a piss and pisses all over his front legs I just sat and laughed
