swanseajack 227
Nice looking fit lurcher you got there LB, you say she wolfed down her food last night...... what was/is the problem with her.? My mate had a lurcher some years back that wouldn't eat, always looked skinny but really was fine... lamp all night and put other 'fit' dogs to shame... I might be stating the obvious here, try feeding her when the other dogs are present, jealousy and greed normally spring a dull appetite into action.
Guest Lurcherbitch
The only problem i can see with her is she throws her left foot out when striding, so she is no good for showing,But hell you can hardly notice it. I'd show her if i was into that sort of thing. The guy who handed her to me say's she will happily rabbit all day & i can vouch for her being fit as she has been in n out with me most of the day n still has energy. She still has'nt eaten yet, so i've just gone and got some whiskers cat food. She is a good sort of dog a bit timid....but that can soon be over come. I would love her to go to pet/working home as she deserves the best of both worlds. She is getting fed with other dog's but is more interested in going back out . I have someone here looking at one of my dog's n she is deciding if she likes them or not. Dont think she does so it's a good job they want a greyhound

Guest reload
Lurcherbitch, This problem happens alot with sapling dogs, but that dog does not look that bad to me to be honest, but if you want to get a dog to eat or to improve its appetite and it has nothing physically wrong with it try this. Fast for 24 hours First meal- cut the volume down to a very small amount of food the dogs want to eat such as fresh, present food for 5 mins if no interest take away and wait till next meal time better if its the next day IMO and repeat process. Once dog is clearing the small amount everytime, very and I mean very slowly increase the amount of food daily, But if any sign of the dog messing about cut it back again. What ever you do dont try and increase too quickly as you will be back at square one. Dogs wont starve themselves, they just need to be educated on when they can feed and if the dont they go without. You have to be hard to sort a fussy eater and dont swap foods too much or dare i say it hand feed....lol So in simple cut back and slowly build up the food, and other dogs may encourage the dog to eat better too. There are also several medicines that you can give 1 hour prior to feeding to help increase appetite which work very well if done with this regime. Reload stands down of soap box
smallmouth 1
Didn’t I read somewhere that working Beardies can thrive on bugger all cubed? Maybe she’s just inherited her appetite from her grandsire? I remember the lurcher I had with Beardie in her wasn't much of an eater.
Stabs 3
Aye, mine's like that. Very fussy eater. She can go days with only eating a japenese sniper's crumbs.

Guest Lurcherbitch
I aint panicking Garypce, was just asking in genral about the beans, didnt want to start another thread . I cook pasta, rice n stuff a few times a week for ALL the dog's and throw odds and ends in, so it was just a quiry . She is kept in the house, & i have found that she is very nervy about eating around the other dog's and has eaten tonight better on her own. I only gave her a small amount as advice by reload, So will keep her to small amounts and hopefully she will get a good appetite soon. If not i'm not going to worry because as stabs, reload, smallmouth have said, she doesnt look bad and also as long as she's fit n healthy......job well done . Stabs.....Pilchards whent down a treat
