gnasher16 30,217
Path at the side of a canal is called a tow-path, bizarrely walkers, cyclists and fishermen with 80ft roach poles believe they've somehow claimed rights, whilst the cyclist may have been a prick, i dont think cyclists ringing thier bell necessitates anyone moving anywhere, it's simply a warning of approach from behind, it's the very reason only the geniunely mental ring thier bell when approaching from your front...if your brains reading that the bell is an order then you may find yourself primed into butt-butt land.....subliminaly like. Why does a person need to know that a bike is behind them ?..................If ringing a bell doesnt mean " get out the way " why ring it ?
Lab 10,979
I try my hardest not to peep at folk...my luck it will be some f***ing physco wi a baseball bat and I'll get my c**t kicked in. But about a year ago now I had 3 folk either flash there lights at me, give me the finger or shake there head. I'm a good driver and never done anything wrong on these occasions, jyst your typical wankers!! Anyway enough was enough and I thought next time I'm out the jeep. Sure enough I'm heading to the gym one day and the council roadsweeper is up ahead. I go passed him just as he decides to pull out with no indicator....he sees me and stops, I drive passed and I see him giving me the wanker sign in the mirror...."f**k it!!!!". Slams the brakes on and jumps out..marches up tae the window and says "who the f**k are you calling a wanker??". To be fair he shat it and apologised. And I jumped back in the jeep thinking 'thank f**k he wasn't a big c**t!!'....??

Why does a person need to know that a bike is behind them ?..................If ringing a bell doesnt mean " get out the way " why ring it ? To let a person/family know something will be passing shortly, that way they'll not even need to break stride if they've the sense to realise it, just not pull a max wall trick turning an unannounced left/right...don't underestimate how numb arrogant the simple walker is...they'll walk off the pavement without looking splattering a cyclist into a car and walk off..afterall it's nowt to do with them is it? Bell's also handy for notifying dog walkers of an approach, the best of these are fonzy enuf and simply instruct thier distanced dog to sit. Personally i don't use a bell, the rear freehub pedalled backwards will make an intresting enuf noise for the healthy of hearing and if not i'll ride accordingly. Anglers with poles almost generally appreciate early notification..being able to swerve thier rig without pulling it in.

RemyBolt 420
He might have been having a really bad day mate. Maybe he caught his misses with someone else or something? I have had a few bad experiences with BMW drivers. One where I was driving back from an MMA comp with a few of the team in my work car (big Vauxhall Zafira with blacked out windows) he was right up in my face. So a few guys got out of the car and....well let's just say the video cameras stopped working for a few minutes. Other time was when my wife was cut up while cycling and he almost threw her into a ditch. I caught the f**ker at a set of traffic lights, ripped the keys out of the ignition and threw them into a field! Never had jip from any other drivers....well lorries maybe. RemyBolt 420
look what can happen http://jalopnik.com/5920308/here-is-the-viral-video-that-led-to-two-arrests-in-a-road-rage-beating I can't understand how people can sit and just film something like that ... I would have to jump out and level things up ....... I tend to agree, but I have a major issue with it. You don't know the situation. In a park in Bristol a few summers back, I saw 2 white guys trying to fight some black guy. I didn't know who did what, or anything like that. So instead of helping anyone out, I just made sure it was all done fairly and nobody got killed. First white guy got smacked to the floor, then the black kid kicked him in the head, I got involved and the black kid backed off. I turned around to see the other white guy run in and get knocked clean out! Amazing!!! I then got the black guy to back off. The situation could have been super complicated or who knows what. I could have helped out the black kid or the white lads, I didn't know what caused it, who started it, or what. Turns out the white guys were messing about all pulled the black guy's dreadlocks. Which he clearly wasn't too partial to. However, there could have been a dispute with drugs where someone had not paid the others, maybe someone was threatening someone else's family members, or who knows what. So taking any side could potentially be dangerous after the event. I've learned to just adjudicate and remain as impartial as possible, but to keep things as 'safe' as possible too. socks 32,253
Them fellas taped the whole incident so they knew what was happening ... Whilst it was one on one fair enough stay out but when the other weasel jumps in I am afraid I could not sit there and do nothing .......

RemyBolt 420
Them fellas taped the whole incident so they knew what was happening ... Whilst it was one on one fair enough stay out but when the other weasel jumps in I am afraid I could not sit there and do nothing ....... I got involved, which is why it was 1 on 1, otherwise it would have been 2 on 1. But even then, for all you know, the guy you're 'defending' may have rapped one of the other guy's sisters or something like that. So the guys might just be putting in a bit of street justice. If someone had rapped my wife, and me and my mated popped round to say hello and calmly discuss the situation, and some guy joined in trying to help out the rapist....not a good outcome. Best off to stay away from the situation all together. If you're caught up in it, adjudicate and remain partial. Until you can find out the whole gravity of the situation, you're playing a seriously dangerous game. Would you get involved if you knew the solo-guy (the 'victim') was a paedo-rapist and had attacked one of the group's little sisters or daughters?

However it doesn't change the fact that I am wired up the way I am and can't stand by and watch some fella take a kicking off a few people ......... I get where you're coming from mate, I really do. I get involved, but I make it as fair as possible, e.g. make it into a 1 on 1 situation. Never a 2 on 2, or a 4 on 2 situation. Simply because the back 'story' of the situation could well be crazy as hell. Saw a 3 on 1 fight, that I (and a few other friends) got involved in, it became a fair 1 on 1 fight, I then found out what happened, and we let them kick the crap out of the guy. He had rapped a friend of the lads. The guy had smacked out the first one then said "I'm f**king glad I rapped her." So the automatic response was "Well, sorry guy's, he's all yours." and we walked off. A little street justice.
