Rez 4,961
Came by a new HW97KT Blackline stainless yesterday in .22. If the mrs and the dog weren't with me I'd of bought it. But she made me think... "Do you need it?" Of which made me ponder. Do I? As many of you will have been through, you nip over to the shop for pellets, something 'cheap' and you see a new rifle, you've always had your eye on, you come across one and theres that moment...... Even though you perhaps dont actually need it, your that close to spending near on 500 beans. I notice some members have 77's, 95's, 97's and 98's all in the cupboard. My question is do I actually need it? Im pondering dishing in my SE for half the cost, again, another thought, do I want too. I love my 98, the sheer shooting process, yes, it pisses me off at times, but I know that if my groups aren't good, its my fault and I also 'like' my SE, just this morning I took it out, dropped two pigeons with it. I was actually shooting targets with the HW and the flow become interrupted, groups loosened, so out came the SE and 5p groups put me back in a good mood again. I moan about PCP's being nothing to shoot, but god, they are accurate and are perfect against live quarry. This is the issue. If I get rid of my PCP, I wont have the luxury of effortless accurate shooting, but I cant stop thinking about the 97 over in the shop [Hopefully we've all been there]. I know it'll be as accurate when I get used to it, I know that kits and tunes are available, I have glass to add to it, but its just not load and shoot spot on. Do I need a 97KT, owning a 98? Never shot one but assume it'll be lovely, it did fit like a glove in the shoulder and the weight issue didn't pass my mind, Ill top it with my Mamba, which is light anyway. Any help would be much appreciated before I tell her in doors that we cant go away this year. Nice one. Edited June 8, 2014 by Rez Quote Link to post

Rez 4,961
Agreed. I'm gonna have to get rid of one. The BSA lightening can definitely go. Took a few shits with the 97. Smooth. Much less recoil than my 98 was in .177, to be expected. Tis nice though Edit. Ment shots. Edited June 8, 2014 by Rez Quote Link to post

Daz39 962
Just stick with the 98 and spend them money on a holiday.! Says the man selling his 98 and keeping his 97!! EVERYONE needs a 97..... Quote Link to post
Daz87 76
I'm buying my 4th springer this week, So i'm probably not the best person to ask. I always find some way of justifying it to myself... I think that if I get them at a good price to start with, I can always sell them for around the same further down the line if I need to. In the meantime I get to enjoy all of them and always have a few spares to hand if my friends fancy a shoot with me. If you're gonna enjoy it and you can just about afford it, I'd say go for it. You only live once right... Daryl Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Indeed. I am happy Ive got it. Its a great rifle from what Ive read and the short time Ive spent with it. The potential is flammin' plain to see to be honest. I'll run it in, get the bolloxs tuned off it. Then sell the rest Apart from the 98. And the scorpion. Might send this to someone for a proper look at. Hows best re the 97? Solware seems to get a good review. In Lincoln myself so it would be good to go to the closest reputation. Quote Link to post

I think you made the right decision, you'll have lots of good times ahead and probably get a fair return for it, if you do ever decide to sell up. I've just had my 97k tuned up by mattybugeye from this forum, I bought it second hand and was non workable to start with. She should arrive back to me tomorrow, so i'll finally get to find out what all the fuss is about! Quote Link to post
