Ticks?

Just wondering if any of you lot of had any problems with ticks so far this year? I have a pup staying with a friend just until I get my yard sorted, and in the past 2/3 weeks we must of found 15 ticks in total. I find it rather strange as we haven't found a single one on the other dogs. the bedding is changed regular and the kennel and dog have been treated, as have all the other dogs.

 

Any advice on some good treatment would be appreciated.

Its expected that there will be an increase in ticks this year.

No easy answer for your pets other than buying a tick remover from the vets and removing.

Flea and tick collars are allways on my dogs this time of year still get the odd one but just remove it.

Had a terrier here for last month & had same problem, until using frontline spot on pipette, nothing since.

You can use a cypermethrin based cattle tick repellent either. One spot on the shoulders and one at the base of the tail. About 1 mill per 10 kg. it's in a lot of insect repellents. 30 euro for 500 ml google ectospec. The same ingredient is in K9 advantix for dogs

Also pays to use different products with different ingredients as the get resistant to products if you keep using them

There was a post in the working dog health section a while back about putting apple cider vinegar(unpastuerised) in the food/water as it's meant to keep ticks away.trying it myself,no ticks so far.atb
