If the boat does not have a licence, you will need to know it's VCU Vessel capacity units, to work out how much the licence is going to cost you.

This is the formula used to find the VCU of a boat.

(Length over all X Breadth) + ( Engine Power X 0.45 )

Lenght and Breadth are in Meters
Engine Power is in Kilowatts ( Kw)
note:To convert horsepower to kilowatts divide the horsepower by 1.341.

example: boat length = 6 meters, breadth = 2.5meters, Engine power = 20Kilowatts

therefore
( 6m X 2.5m ) + ( 20 X 0.45 ) =
( 15 ) + ( 9 ) = 24 VCU's

thought they make abit more than thats £25k then around £10k for licence that's not a lot.

I thought it was gona be like the deadliest catch £100k :icon_redface:

When I first had my licence, they were given to you. Before then you only had to register the boat and have your port numbers. Licences started off @ around the £80 per unit not sure what they are now, but they are an investment, and will never loose money.
