charlie caller 3,654
Other than the largest female on the tiniest cub, I would say it is almost certainly impossible (almost) I say that because strange things do happen, I know on Lancashire falconry website, there is a picture of a big female redtail on a dead fox, but a female redtail has a lot more power than any Harris hawk, never say never, but I think the guy is making sport of you 1 Quote Link to post

arcticgun 4,548
had them attack them in cover and take hold and dogs been straight into help her , so she feels free to try it again, alone she would imho likely end up dead but ya never know, a man I know tells me his has, he focused her on em on lamp killing plenty of cubs to gain confidence and then moved onto larger ones as the grew, she eventually was killed latched on and took through hedge and so badly damaged nothing could save her , high risks hawking that should remain behind closed doors if people choose to pursue it 1 Quote Link to post
Warwick Huntacre 4
Thanks for views, this was told to me as if a regular thing!!!!!!!!another hunter who's ego is a big as his birds wingspan!!!! Quote Link to post
pointer 543
I'd have to see it done to believe it, I don't believe anything I read on the Internet and a picture means absolutely nothing. My own hawk has been ready to strike down at something in cover several times only to fly back up and start screaming, sometimes I see the fox sneak away, other times the pointer hits the line and I know he's hunting a fox. I wouldn't want my hawk attacking fox. 2 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
In my opinion, only a downright fool would deliberately target foxes with a bird the size of a Harris or the biggest meanest redtail for that matter, there really are some complete arseholes out there. 2 Quote Link to post

pointer 543
It seems to me that a hare is a big enough animal for a hawk to try and take and a squirrel or a rat is as dangerous a quarry as any hawk needs to face. There will always be those that try and do something different for bragging rights or just because they are idiotic. Normal hunting with a hawk has all the excitement, fun, sport etc etc that I'll ever need and it can be dangerous enough for our birds without making it riskier. 1 Quote Link to post
britdog 15
100% agree with pointer get some great flights flying at rabbits the odd duck and pheasent no need to put your hawk at risk flying at unsuitable quarry . I normaly only let my hawk hunt from fist not let them self hunt around the woods 1 Quote Link to post
