The only thing I would do different to your picture is make the height of the triangle shorter so the two 45 degree arms pass between the arms of the bulldog clip to limit the movement of the clip. Q.E.D.

yes that would indeed be an improvement

This is what as known as collective development, I love it. There is always another way, it may not suit some, but will suit others. The more ideas out there the better.

Don't be shy give them a try, the worst that can happen is that they do not work for you, but you will never know unless you try.

Wise words indeed. I started longnetting a good many (too many) years before the internet and its forums burst onto the scene, back then there was also no instructional books or videos either and some experienced netters could be a little guarded and tight-lipped about their tactics so the beginner had to learn mostly by trial and error, therefore I have never forgot the words of a wonderful old man and very experienced netter who was less reluctant to help and offered me some good advice just before his death, to quote him ‘'knowledge to an old man is like a comb to a bald head, I can do nothing with it other than pass it on so I am happy to share what I know with you’'. My how things have changed since those days with loads of information at the click of a mouse and most folks are happy to share and offer help, all for the good. ATB.

I thought it was.

I tried triangles but getting 2 the same is nigh on impossible, why 2? well when Im knitting away from the mesh holder weight, when the weight touches the floor I put in the 2nd holder about 6 rows from my last row and start again. so I know use a mesh holder thats flat across the bottom (various widths depending on twine being used)the arms are 90 degrees upright with a hook on each side which clip onto the loop opposite end to the weight, this loop is stainless steel cable crimped (to form the loop) and 7'6" long down to the weight which is a towing ring from a chain, the 7'6" is the height of the top cupboard door which has display stand bracket fitted over the top and protrudes 12"(its double bar the type of "thing" that you'll see in shops with packets hanging on them)and the cable goes between the bars

When I start the weight will be just below the bracket and lowers to the floor with each row knitting 7'6-8' without having to move

Took me a while and a couple of reads but I got there eventually, very innovative.

The weight is about a kilo and hangs down so there is tension all the time your knitting, but its not arm wrenching or a struggle to hold the weight at all Im just keeping the weight still without it rising.

I've cant say I've ever seen the weight rise while Im knitting though,I'll have it out Sunday afternoon while listening to Johnny Walker and watch to see if it does indeed move and report back

Listened to JW Sunday afternoon whilst knitting a few more rows and can honestly say does not rise at all, even had Flynn out to make sure it did nt move up when finishing the knots off. Now wether this is down to the weight balancing nr perfectly? or I close the knot with the needle below the mesh board and the twine coming down over the face of the mesh board?

PS there was a cracking interview with Allan Clarke on JW
