SNAP SHOT 194
Dean, how's things mate, The .17 hmr is a great little weapon, but it shouldn't really be used on foxes, even though you'll have no problem killing at 125yards or under it's shot placement that count's, wrong placement with this weapon will result in unnecessary suffering of the animal,i've had one of the very first to come into the country, so i've had it a while,i found the best groups to come from hornady. Also if you have the cz american, then get a smithy to take the barrel off and slighty sand the inside of the fore-end on the right hand side as this is slighty touching at the front this will greatly improve your accuracy. great gun for mags, grey crows, and all round plinking. Dean o Riordan 0
thanks for your reply /sand the barrel or stock Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
christ mate don't sand the barrel, on the righthand side when you take the barrel off front theres a slight rise on the wood, well there was on the first models, place a bit of sandpaper over a small socket or something round to get the same contour, sand and put a little varnish on it when finished, place the barrel on and hey presto, accuracy improved...... get a piece of paper and slide it up between the barrrel and stock, to see can you get it up to the action, if not you'll see where the barrel is touching the stock. Guest JohnGalway
Holy Grail, probably .17REM (centrefire) you have? .17HMR (rimfire) is good out to 100 yards, head shots only (in my opinion shooting it, admittidly not at foxes, and based on what two HMR owning friends have recounted about body shots). SNAP SHOT 194
HEAD SHOTS only is right i forgot to mention, because the little pill is travelling at 2500 to 2600 fps it just expolds on impact, thus not giving a good penatration on a body shot.... HOLY GRAIL check out varmint al's web page for the spec.. Quote Link to post
