Back To School?

Recommended Posts

Been working now since I left school at 16, couldn't wait to fecking leave the place. Got my trade and have had work through most of the recession. I'm lucky to actually love my job which is unusual these days with all the dead end jobs about.

I got thinking recently about going back to education, I don't have any A levels ect so I'd have to do an entry course to enter into university. I just wanted to ask what people think about open university? is it do-able? has anyone on here got a degree from open university?

I still don't know what im going to study yet, but as I have my trade it will always be there as a safety net. Would love to hear peoples views/experiences on this.

A colleague trained as a mechanic then one day decided to be a theoretical physicist..... as you do...... he went to uni (full time) and did his PhD. Plenty have done similar but I can't add anything constructive mind.

my wife has just done her full teaching degree by going to uni half a day a week and done the rest at home .just got her first teaching job and starts at her new school in September aged 43.been lots of work for her and hard for us as a family because she has just been studying for 3 years but also so rewarding because she got first class honours and a nice paid job as well.

kay I don't think its too late for you, my other half's auntie and mother were well in their 40s when they got their degrees and both are on good dough now. the way im looking at it is that It wont harm me :victory:

I was never good at school and I hated the place, although im no dumbass either. my woman is studying to be an accountant and It got me interested to try again at education, especially if I do something I like.
