Hi there, any experts out there who know about Wasp pellets?

I've come across three differnt tin colours, blue; purple and red. I'm talking about old pellets, apparently they now have a different manufacturer.

I was trying a friends rifle (.22) with RWS Superdomes with very poor groups, he produced an ancient tin of purple Wasps that immediatly gave a 3/4" group at 25 yds - not bad for a Cometa! The tin lid was that rusted you couldn't make out the weight etc.

I have been told that in .22 one colour was 5.5mm and the other 5.6mm but didn't know which was which. Then, today a gun dealer told me he had a supply of red lidded Wasps in .177. They were in the shop when he took it over, don't think he has ever sold any

Anyone know what the red lidded ones are ?

purple 5.6 mm ..all the new wasp I have tried are cr.p . I had some old 177 s that were good [from the 80s] new 177 s that were cr.p both red tins .I have a webley omega that shoots 5.6 wasps a lot better than 5.5 wasp pellets but it shoots a lot of other pellets better than wasps .

the old tin says ...500 ELEY WASP... it has no bar code on the lid .....the new tin says...... No1 4.5mm (.177) WASP.... there is a bar code on the lid 8 4882000668 6 . if they are the old 177 then you may get some good pellets cheap.

Eley wasps. Old school indeed. Reminds me of my old Webley tracker. Good pellet... More of a plinking buddy nowadays, unless you find a rifle with unique taste buds.
