Ideation 8,216
Is there any market for old Gin traps, was just clearing out my sheds, and realised I have a fair collection, probably about 7-10, of different sizes, from really small to large. All decent condition, bar the discolouring/rust on the metal. Well, they all set and fire anyway! Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Not sure these are anything 'special' just regular Gin traps, apart from the one, which is real small, looks like it'd be for rats or birds maybe? Any idea how I could find their worth? Quote Link to post

heritage 202
I like all things traps & trapping and much like a few others on the forum I have a small collection of gins for decoration. There is a lot of money in certain types of gin traps but you really have to know what your looking for ( i dont ) but to have any real value the trap needs to have something special about it, a rare type , unusual size or unique markings, For your run of the mill gins the value would be anywhere from £5 -£20 depending on condition ect... Best thing you could do, sell them all to a collector or interested party or give them a light cleaning and place them on ebay. Quote Link to post
john b 38
Just for anyone in a similar situation to Ideation, at www.vintagetraps.co.uk we do offer a commission based sales service, provided the quality and condition are up to the mark. Many of the items for sales belong to individual collectors or people who've just inherited a few. 2 Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
What kind of condition and quality must they be out of interest? Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Six larger ones and one small one. Various designs, and marks on them. Quote Link to post
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Eighth picture down? Two traps. Lower one has sacking bound around the jaws? Frankly; I'd put that f**ker in a fire and let the lot burn off. It's probably just me, being jumpy. But, the Aussies wrap strychnine, just like that. And that stuff just never goes away. 1 Quote Link to post
