dogs-n-natives 1,182
ok, so we have to re-think what we are going to do, as we cant run a proper 'batida' with just 6 folk, on that land. (2 of which are dog-less, another 2 joined last minute). Everything was sorted, including accommodation, and there would have been ample folk willing to take vehicles. We had a really good looking team, of around 15...all keen as mustard and staying in touch at first, then one by one, 10 of them have disapeared.... well they have been online lol but they never reply to my messages. What can I do, ive chased them enough. those that remained keen, and have a place are joe, tyla, lee, rob, wales, and mushroom. 1 Quote Link to post

Lee_H 64
Hi joe if your going alone we can try sort something out between us what vehicle you taking mate? Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Yeah Im sure you could bring the fam mate, we should plan who wants to take vehicles, I would gladly rent a vehicle for the trip and take a couple of folk. Im down south for a weekend mid/late november, would be great to get together for a wee rake about and a pint or two perhaps? Quote Link to post
Wales1234 5,546
Defo up for that dogs I'm up in Scotland first week of November though hopefully you be down after that !! Quote Link to post
Lee_H 64
I'm up for that mate let me know the date and I'll be there. I looked into renting a crew van after the look on my bosses face when I asked if I could take the company van. The hire firm I tried wanted £500 for 5 days because the vehicle was going abroad might be cheaper somewhere else tho I didn't ring around. Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
Wales - yeah, that's the plan. Assuming you're still happy with it? DnN - Jai isn't on your list, don't tell me he's bailed out??? Quote Link to post
Lee_H 64
I'm easy either way I'll chip in to renting something or drive in my van but it's only a two seater. I have the option of a landrover but with a top speed of 60mph it would prob take a week to get there that's if I didn't breakdown. Is there a restriction on the number of dogs you can take through the tunnel per vehicle ? Quote Link to post
Lee_H 64
Ok sound I'll get a few cages sorted think I might already have one. Quote Link to post
Wales1234 5,546
Yeaa I'm cool with that mate !! Spoke to Jai earlier he's still coming just been busy !! I'm gone take my estate easily fit 3 dogs in the boot got proper guard and liner happy days Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Tyla, I think Jai will be coming, thankfully, Wales has spoken to him recently. So we might have a chance of doing some small drives! I think we will still have a great time, but I will need to confirm that the landowner is still happy to go ahead with less hunters (less income for him) I'd rather not change venue if we can avoid it, as this ground was such a different experience and offers great possibilities. It really changes very dramatically after you cross the mountains, into the desert. The travel regulations are only in Spain, so if space is limited a dog could be linked to a seatbelt. Travel time from the spanish border in the pyrenees, to the hunting ground, is around 2 hours. But obviously cages/crates are very handy if they fit Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
At a glance crew cab should be about £300 i'll ring around on the weekend, don't see why it should be more for going abroad? I wonder if we can add a few names as drivers for the same cost? Quote Link to post
Lee_H 64
It was a small hire firm in Blackburn that told me there was an extra charge for taking them abroad like you say probably best to ring around. Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
I've just spoken to Jai, he's definitely still in so that's an extra man and two hounds. Is it a lack of cover dogs that's the problem? Quote Link to post
