fireman 10,871
Well done on rearing the little thing ,not hand eared a gogfinch but have a goldie mule and when it came to weaning it i put another bird in the cage with it with bowls of a few different foods, egg food, seed and some wild food bits and bobs and just topped him up when he needed it.He just picked it up from the other bird and just coppied it and believe it or not i'm sat watching a greenfinch fledgling out my windows as i type who fledgd 2 days ago pecking at some dock and milt thistle bits i put in here ealier so it's in them to peck at things and trial and error on their part will find the food bits for them.Hope that sort of helps and keep us updated on progress, ,i'm just getting a few last things together before hand rearing a few birds myself this year and when it comes to weaning time that's how i'll be doing it as well . Yes it is a goldie by the way and was it a wind fall out of a wild nest?. Edited May 29, 2014 by fireman
