A mate's recently bought a staff that was neglected by it's previous owner, apparently it hadn't been walked in almost a year and it's nails were in a bad way.

I cut it's nails because the nerves weren't that far down them and straight away the bitch was walking much better.

but I think he's walked her too far too soon, because she's obviously in pain with her pads now,to the point she's barely willing to walk and when I picked her up to carry her to her food and put her back down she rolled straight onto her side rather than stand up to eat.

she's on some sort of pain relief now,I think.

so obviously she'll be getting well rested, but when she's back getting eased into it are there any good sprays or creams out there for this?

I'm givin him a lift to the vet in the morning, but there must be some decent products for helping harden the feet out there.

I think I've seen some yellow spray for this on lurchers feet before.

the dogs a nervous mess,I'd probably put it down, but he's going to need to get it exercised as much as possible to get rid of some energy and get it settled properly imo

There are loads of hotchpotch remedies out there that claim to harden feet but as has been said the best way to harden feet is controlled walking and build it up steadily .........

Did he walk it for miles on lead or off? Either way, if the dog isn't fit then that's not good. If the dog was running around loose after having no exercise for ages it could damage tendons, ligaments and muscles, as well as having sore pads.

it will have been on lead.

the vet checked her over and said her pads are just very soft, probably because walking around on her freddy kruger nails was too painful so she just sat around.

so there's no effective way to help harden pads?she acts terrified all the time and imo needs to blow some energy and get in a routine involving regular walks asap.
