andy mecca 5
just wondering why you are'nt going to use the quickset system Quote Link to post
stubby 175
thought the quickset would have been the advantage at night Quote Link to post
Ricky-N.p.p 0
thought the quickset would have been the advantage at night not if the ground you are netting is uneven, the bottom line would be off the ground in some parts if the poles are fixed Quote Link to post
john hubery 9
Will Ive used both over 20 years, just used the quickset the last year, may be Im getting old and lazy but if I where you Id stick with the quickset mate Quote Link to post
andy mecca 5
if the ground was really un even dont stretch the net out keep your pole a bit closer to the last one pegged in,this will give you the slack.take up the top running line around the pole a couple of turns to stop it hanging down then proceed as normal Quote Link to post

TOMO 26,042
hi i have been netting for a couple of years now. but only with a 100yard quickset net with some success! im going to start netting at night more often this season but with a traditional net!! any advice is a great help!! i have read the art of long netting. cheers will THE ONLY ADVISE I WOULD GIVE MATE IS SIMMPLE , PRACTICE A LOT IN THE DAY , JUST RUNNING IT OUT AND PICKING UP. ASSUMING YOU ARE ALREADY DOING THIS . THEN AS " NIKE" WOULD SAY JUST DO IT . JUST GET OUT AND USE IT Quote Link to post
Crow 1
will_cox If you want to give the traditional net a go then do so - ignore the bleats of the lazy lot above The quickset system is just that - quicker to set. It's also easier too which might explain why it's so popular However, I don't think the quickset is as versatile as the traditional method - and it's a damn sight harder to hide under your jacket My advice would be to have a go in daylight first just to get the feel of laying it out and picking it up. When you've tried them both then you can make your mind up. Good luck! Crow Edited to add that Tomo posted the same time - hence the repeat of advice! will_cox 0
hi guys thanks for the advise!! the reason in leavin the quickset is:- LAZY (any tom dick or harry can use it!!!) not easy to carry ( over barbwire fences/through hedges) lack of skill can be noisy and the main reason is wheres the history on quickset longnets!!?? i would like to hear more people keeping the old traditions in life!!!!!!! sorry if i sound sad but i would like to pass down old traditions to any younger generation when im older!! cheers will Quote Link to post
