what happened with the deer fawn mate?

a mates dad had a female harris that used to soar and was an aggressive hunter. one day it hit a fox through a fence and held on before letting go just as the bloke nearly got there

It got up.....so I slipped him lol.........those muntjac breed all year round where I was in England, you would see all different sizes through the winter.

That one was only about 5lb..........funny thing about that, is that I slow cooked it for me & a mate & it tasted like rabbit! The venison flavour hadn't developed yet.......

Yeh.....what you'd expect from a big rabbit...........strangely enough, my male Harris took one the same size, almost exactly a year before, a 100 yards from that spot :-)

thats some tackle to bring down for a male harris lol. there gutsy thats for sure. cant wait to see how this female pans out. 3 year old and hasnt even seen a live rabbit. i fancy the challenge though

We were out several years back and a mates large female harris smashed into a high confer tree right above where I was stood.All I saw was a large dark object hurtling straight down towards my head so I dived sideways and the Harris and a huge black cat hit the deck right beside me in a blur and a squeal as they hit the ground they parted.We were amazed.Then we went on across some fields and dropped into a wood the Harris was high in a tree and you could tell that she was eyeballing something in the cover so I gave it a few whacks with a beating stick.She dived in and the whole bush was thrashing around and the loud bellowing as a huge Fallow buck got up screaming and bellowing as it ran down the wood bouncing from tree to tree.She was locked on right between his antlers,but eventually fell off about 50 yds down the wood.We were amazed,but she probably just saw his head moving as he was laying in the thick bramble.It was a strange course of events in a mornings hawking and a day to remember,lol.

I know what you mean it was a huge black cat too,lol.Luckily for us and the hawk they separated when they hit the deck..!

Flew a little male Harris hawk years back he's the one in the avatar. Little man! He flew around 1.7 1/4 we went to linconshire with the loacl club and this little fella was fear less he took two hare for me, one on each day we were there. Not the longest flights but he hung on well until I got there. Only problem the pics are all on the old pc with blue screen of death.

He was not my bird but owned and flown by a friend on the landfill sites where he took on gulls the size of bomber planes. When my friend lost the contract he sold the bird on and he had a call back from the guy saying he did not let the him know exactly how good this bird really was especially on the lamp, bearing in mind he had never been used on the lamp in his life. I was gutted he was sold but was not in the position to fly him enough and do him justice.

I loved that bird he was exceptional, brave and one of the best I have seen. He did have me a couple of time but that I can forgive him for.

That's the trouble with keeping pics on devices.......like we all do now, all my pics of my Harris are on a Nokia phone, which is lying dead in the draw now :-( & lost a load more recently on an IPhone that can't be fixed......

Yeh I was really fond of my male Harris........great little birds......& sadly overlooked by many prospective falconer's.

Been thinking of him all night he put in at a couple of munkjack but was threw very think undergroth if he had have bound on it may have been a different story. I have a little male at the moment but due to illness has not had the flying he deserves this season but thank god for the moult.
