An Evening Hour At The Farm.....

Recommended Posts

Took my hw100T down the farm last night for an hour to thin the crows, had the woodie as I pulled up, so I laid it down with a few feathers pulled out with a crow decoy standing over it, sat back and waited, wasn't long before a few crows were stopping to take a look at what there plastic brother was eating....... Great shooting this is something I'm starting to try to master. Some flocked crow decoys arrived in the post yesterday and I've got a couple of whole small rabbits in the freezer for bait. The idea of using a pigeon belly up with plucked feathers sounds a good one.

What cover did you use to remain hidden from the eagle-eyed crows? both hide and personal cover and do you use a caller? and any other tips you would recommend.

Nice shooting, the stock reminds me of the one I had on my HW100KT. Lovely dark colour that looks great with a few coats of tru-oil

Looks like you shot a couple of Rooks there too

Hi lads, sorry was a bit vague, my hw is in .177 shooting JSB exacts, as for where my hide was, well i was actually shooting from inside a polytunnel 35 yards from a paddock where the crows love to get in amongst some chicken and goat pens, I did want to use a rabbit with the guts out, but as I pulled into the farm, I shot the woodie (head shot) at about 30yards from my van, so I thought I'd give it a go and it worked. And yes there are rooks there as well, all the birds were head shot, with the JSB's doing the job perfectly, I haven't had my HW that long, but I've got to say it's the best rifle I've owned/shot by a mile, got a big problem with the corvids on the farm at the mo, could do with a hand really!
