Remember going to my nans every Saturday to visit, for lunch we always had a mince pie from the butchers down the road called Knox and finnies, the proper pies with the hole in the top where the fat from the mince would be running down your chin when you took a bite oot it, don't get them like that any more.

Never got nan call but loved going over grandparents when I was a kid 12 family circle tins she used fill of cake baking ready for a mob of 11 grandchildren that used to turn up for a weekend stay. She taught us to cook sew stitch. Used to make ya a pack up as we used to bugger off up the fields building dens and such like the only thing we feared was the spit on the tissue she used to say cum you here boy yuh got ya selfs grubby chops feck that we used to run like feck to get away from that.now me grandad on the other hand is a ruthless ol chap pencil tash regimented type of person now he would thrash ya for looking at him or speaking at the table speak when spoken to evil ol sod got whipped with stingers across my hands when I was younger for stealing his pocket knife to cut some twine for a bow I was making. Still alive now still got respect for the old fart

Aye I got it! Even went to live with her when I was 13. Loved my nan, she was like a second mother to me after my mum had me at 17 and she was so involved in my upbringing along with my grandad. Lost her 12 months ago and not a single day goes by without me thinking about her..

I was bought up by mine the food was superb wouldn't change a thing. Mind you didn't mess with granddad unless you wanted a right dinger round lug

Same here, I spent more time with my Nan than my parents when I was a kid. Wouldn't have changed it either, she was the most wonderful person I've ever known.
