Ads 39
I think everyone will have their own opinion with regards to which dog to get but to be honest, as long as both parents are workers, im sure most crosses SHOULD be able to do a few rabbits with ferrets! Although something with a bit of collie may be a bit easier for you to train if it's your first. Good luck mate 1 Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
Get any type you fancy, just steer clear of peddlers.ask as many questions as possible, see as many litters as possible,if they won't answer or get arsey ,walk Personally I'd go for something 23-25 inch as although you want a ferreting companion now, you may in the future want other stuff from it in the future all the best in your search 2 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Ignore all of the shite saying get "xxx" cross and that will be exactly what you need, it's pish. Get a pup out of two dogs doing what you want the pup to do, to a decent standard, and preferably from lines of dogs doing the same. And try to get out and see a few different dogs doing what they do, and see what lights the fire in you. If it was as simple as xyz cross is the one for whatever task . . . . . . we'd all have em. 2 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Just like I said, get yerself one of them skinny arsed, fast type feckers. Out of gear thats bred to kill stuff. Don't give one iota as to what breeds make it up. If it's parents are racy and kill gear, then thats what EVERY first timer (and a whole lot of other folk!) really needs to have...! You can spend half your fecking life looking for a 5/8ths collie x 17/23rds bull, with a splash of whippet..... Feck all that bollox... Does the puppies parents sound right (fast?), do they look right (fast?), do they catch (kill) the gear that you want 'em to...???? Always remember what a wise man once said to me (and a few others).... YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH SPEED...!! ( ) If so, take a punt, they sound about right to me.... Best of luck with your quest... alex1987 164
Collie x whippet / grey good shout. A full whippet would probably suit too Quote Link to post
