ben_70 8
This might sound like a stupid question but will keeping my ferrets next to the chicken run bother the chickens? Thanks ben
abarrett 462
Only if the ferrets get out
ben_70 8
Thanks pal wasn't sure if it would put them off laying or anything
abarrett 462
Sorry mate I think chickens get put off if they see danger If the chickens can't see them it shouldn't cause a problem I know chickens stop laying if they get a bird of pray over them and they know it's there or if they get a fox up the wire But if they can't see the problem I am told they are ok I would be interested to know if it bothers the ferrets being able to see and smell the chickens
wicklapaul 2
Ferrets and chickens work great together when I say that I don't mean together. The smell of ferrets will keep rats to a minimum

ben_70 8
Its not like there next to each other it would just be the solid wall of the court would be part of the fence at the bottom of the chicken run the coops a good 60 ft up the garden and that's only reason I asked didn't know if it would spook them Thanks for the replies ben
neil cooney 10,416
The chickens will get used to the ferrets and vice versa. When feeding my chickens every morning I might have 4 or 5 terriers running around and the birds don't notice them. New birds freak out for a day or two but soon get used to them. That's what I would expect mine where the same but now the chickens peck at the dogs if they get to close Thanks ben
