Country Joe 1,411
Big acid head was Manson and his followers, helter skelter was a George Harrison track taken from the White album after the murders whilst driving, one of his followers questioned him, never actually being at the murders, it was done by his followers, Manson became angry at this, and when pulling up at lights there was a open roofed car in the next lane, manson pulled a gun at the driver it clicked but did not fire, the lights changed and the driver pulled away, never realizing how lucky he was. Best book is Helter Skelter by Ed Sanders who was in the 60s American band the Fugs they were big friends with the poet Alan Ginsberg.

RemyBolt 420
Weren't that Manson fella ,, in the beach boys for a bit,,,or maybe did a few tracks with them,,,,or was that some other nutter? Manson was basically a 'spiritual guru' back in the day, and ran a semi-cult style organisation that appealed to many musical stars at the time. He was friends with the Beach Boys, Steve McQueen, and they would frequently hang out together. With many of the current bands, their names are 'subtle' referrences to more sinister issues. Kasabian...as the original post says, is Charles Manson directed. Kaiser Cheifs...Kaiser Wilhelm II, whose death started WW2. Marilyn Manson is named after the 'entertaining dichotomy' of the names of 2 of the biggest names in the 60's, Charles Manson and Marilyn Monroe. The list goes on. Blackbriar 8,569
There are some recordings knocking about of Charlie singing some of his songs..........he had a little bit of talent, but only a little :-). He done something with one of the Wilson brothers (beech boys), until apparently, he scared the shit out of him..... I saw them live - a bit wooden, to be honest ! (I'll get my coat........) There was an interview and during it one of the guys dropped it was after Wilhelm II. I'm sure it's on the internet somewhere, but I'm too lazy to find it. The Football team got it's name from Wilhelm, and the team later had to change their name to Kaiser Chiefs. Not sure whether the band went for the name because of the football team or the Kaiser. I've heard both on interviews....but I think the German Kaiser is probably the real reason.

dare 1,103
Clips I've watched on YouTube of mason made me laugh, entertaining for sure. Would be good to watch likes of him in the big brother house. Thing is being locked up for as long as he has in probably some of Americas worst prisons, everyone would go abit insane.
