I wasn't his biggest fan but one thing I will say is I have to admire his dedication to Celtic FC. A man who suffered crazy senseless abuse everywhere he went, bomb threats, death threats, attacks but yet still held his head up and continued to work. Good luck to him, he'll need it.

How many managers would give their league winners medal away to a member of the crowd, knowing it would be his last with Celtic, a team he has served since 2000.

I for one will be sad to see him go. Thought he was an articulate guy who wouldn't just trot out the usual cliches and soundbites for the media but would usually give an honest and considered account of his team's performance. He was a good representative for Celtic FC. His record on the park, given all the circumstances, has been reasonable on the whole, but nothing exceptional... apart maybe from the win against Barca. I think there are plenty managers out there who could do as good a job for the same money. I can understand and am not surprised by him leaving though, and do think that as reported it has to do with him feeling he has nothing (new) left to achieve. The Celtic board are never going to take a punt and spend tens of millions on players that only might help the team progress in Europe. With a realistic challenge from Rangers looking further away by the day, Celtic's season peters out after Christmas with the cups the only interest left...and even they're a bit of a hiding to nothing as Celtic get little credit for winning them, but get slaughtered for going out. Lennon has never hidden his ambition to test himself as a manager and I think he's probably timed it about right. I say good luck to him, and if he does get a job in England be it the Premiership or the Championship, along with every other manager down there, he'll need it!

He was a bitter little b*****d when he played for Celtic. Basked in the bigotry and played up to the fans who loved him.

Played against a club who was equally steeped in the same bigotry.
