gonetoearth 5,144
Terrier book are mostly written by enthusiasts who have no formal journalistic skills As we have seen over the last decade we have seen differing efforts at Producing Books on the subject. Ive bought most read a few but most after the first chapter have gone on the shelf , the format used by Jb lets the people wright in there own words there own experience maybe not enough but some times it is enough , they wont educate or change you opinions its just entertainment Something to browse thats all ive read at lot worse. You cant please every one And by the way there selling wont be availble long 1 Quote Link to post
Waz 4,252
Will he do a 2nd edition LOL Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
I'm glad John did the 2nd edition because I wouldn't have got a copy otherwise. Hard to believe the 1st edition is already 12 years old. A lot of the lads that are in the book might not mean a whole lot to younger fanciers but IMO John went for the cream as there is a wealth of knowledgeable and experienced terriermen in it. A very good book in my opinion. Quote Link to post
Waz 4,252
Apparently the reprint was done to make it more available after a copy went for 400 quid (possibly ebay). Can understand the reasoning based on that. A 2nd edition of the 1st book is on ebay now (Glyn Jones the collar maker) for a 100 quid..! I paid over a oner recently in the auction on here (1st edition donated by BigBaldBeautiful), happy to do it, good book - good cause. Quote Link to post

gasman 53
Mine came with a limited edition number out of 1200. 2nd edition was released because there was a market for it, a coin to be made. Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
Gasman, when sold years later first editions always make the better price. Personally I don't collect books to sell, I collect them to keep. 1 Quote Link to post

gasman 53
Gasman, when sold years later first editions always make the better price. Personally I don't collect books to sell, I collect them to keep. Who said anything about selling. I first stated that the book was identicle to Blucks, then JBs groupies came on spouting rubbish. Stig then said Bluck coppied JB, fine, but all this pish that it was needed put down before the men pass is bollox, Cyril Brey, Bill Brightmore, Frank Buck, Bert Gripton none of these men gave interviews, and the first limited edition lol was a success. If these books being released today are not done for profit, then donate the profit after cost to the working terrier federation it will be greatly a predicated.
