irishnut 297
I'm seriously considering a combo gun. Possibly wmr/410 or 223/12g. I enjoy shooting vermin, but if i bring out the rifle, I'll arrive at a field loaded with pigeons or if i take shotgun I'll see loads of 60-70yrd rabbits Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
.223 for rabbits. Take it you dont eat them lol Quote Link to post
irishnut 297
I eat rabbits thats why I'd probably opt for rf/410. But 223 reloaded can be useful Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
True mate. Ive looked at the brno combo guns before now. To be fair though baikal are preety much bomb proof Quote Link to post
paulus 26
cz do a scout folder 410/22lr or 20g/22 hornet Quote Link to post
irishnut 297
I didn't know cz done them. Cz make some lovely kit. A 20g/22 hornet would be very handy. Quote Link to post

irishnut 297
I was looking at them earlier. Looks more aimed at the "survival" types, than a hunting tool. Obviously it will kill the same as any other, just doesn't have the refined look I'm after. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Looks like the US Air Force survival gun that Paul, They had them chambered in .22 Hornet and the expanding ammo that came with them was marked "Not for use on Enemy" because expanding stuff is prohibited by the Geneva convention. I've fancied a combination gun or drilling for some time myself Quote Link to post
irishnut 297
I'd love a nice drilling, but need 6 numbers to come up first. A combination is the working mans version. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Yep, the drilling is on the "wish list" unfortunately. Savage used to make a combination gun, 20g and .22LR or WMR. Be a handy gun that. Quote Link to post
irishnut 297
Baikal make the best looking of the 3 mentioned. And they aren't exactly using grade 5 turkish walnut. Quote Link to post
andyf 144
Problem is combo's are cast in stone, not like the circumstances you might need one, i.e. 410 .22 neither has enough 'zip' and never are Deer legal. .222 12G again clever if there were NO rules, but we are stuck with rules (No Deer). I have German friends who have,16G 7mm Drillings which are common, try and get that one past a UK feo?? So not a viable option under UK law (in my opinion). Shame but there it is!! Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I reckon a drilling would be fairly easy to acquire on an FAC provided it was deer legal, Nothing to say you must shoot deer with a scoped rifle and a 7mm is a popular deer calibre in Europe and mentioned on the Home Office guidelines as suitable, If asked why you want that and the shotgun barrels, if you had the reason i.e. for vermin, that would cover it. I can imagine the look on some of their faces if you said "Right, I want this drilling (what's a drilling they would be thinking) it's a 7mm with two shotgun barrels on top which I want to have slugs for" But then you've always got wild boar if you have the permission. I've fancied a combination gun or drilling for some time myself its a copy of the 1950`s USAF springfield F6 the CZ model is a near identical copy, with the major difference being increased barrel length. The gun was available in .22 Hornet over .410 or in 22 lr over .410..... The gun folds in half or breaks down into two sections by removal of the pivot pin. The buttstock is a carrier for ammo for the gun. It has a rear flip sight with a designated peep for .22 and a leaf for .410... there difficult to get hold of as there no longer in production and are very popular with trappers and preppers Quote Link to post
