Folk have been undercutting others and offering to work cheap,...since I first came into Pest Control...

Nothing can be done to stop this,...it s simply a fact of life, that we all have to live with...

No wasps as yet, but caught up about seven swarms so far, all really good size and healthy, we have filled all our hives so now need to go and buy a few more.

join thee club! I'm beginning to think this being a pest controller wont make me the quick buck I thought it would   what can I set up as next?

The majority of the bumble bees that people will call about are not white tail bumbles, but tree bumbles (Bombus Hypnorum) they are about half the size of a white tail (they also have a white tail) bu

And it's not just pest control, my business has been hard hit by people on face book offering less than a quarter of what I charge. Right winds me up, but as you say nothing that can be done about it.

One thing we can do is to stop painting pest control as something that's going to make folks easy money and a life of bunny bashing and a quick buck......

Famously, Rentokil were subject to a big investigation by the competition commission years ago (about 1988, I think). At that time, there were reckoned to be around 1200 pest control businesses in the UK.

I think there's much, much more than that now

It's a hard life out there, whatever trade you're in. It just seems to me that there are more and more courses around that people expect to make them pest controllers over night, and when the cold hard reality hits them, they can only compete on price so they slash, and then slash again.....

How many times do we all see people asking "how much do you charge" type posts? Why do people want to know? So that they can undercut those who've built up a good reputation and worked out the real price needed to make a living

I'm getting a few now. Iv got a few nobs doing it for feck all as well. Iv considered doing it for £10 to all facebook customers for a month just to see how they like it.

Dont mind em under cutting by £2 or so but why do it for 50% less?

Try pointing inland revenue in their direction.

I used to be a huge DR5 fan and raved on about them and the extension system.

I always had two in the van with me, one with extension and one with the normal lance.

I was reminded by Gail at KG that I had a heap of points to use so got a Dust Stick, since the day I got it my DR5's have been bunged in the store and not touched for almost 3 years! Nothing touches the Dust Stick for wasping in my eyes.

Had a fair few calls today for wasps and we don't normally get much work come in on Sundays, so fingers crossed it's just a late season!
