V-Glide

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Springer internals novice question here, but whats the differences between the v-mach and v-glide components? What is what and why is one better than the other? Toying with the idea of sorting my 98 with one or the other myself... It'll go wrong but there is only one way to figure it all out.

V-mach is a service kit comprising of a piston liner. Spring. Top hat. Spring guide.

They enhance the performance to a good twang free springer.

V-glide involves sending your piston to Steve Pope who will machine delrin washers to the piston which reduce friction, reduce the free play between the piston and chamber and also includes the above mentioned service items.

Once fitted to the rifle and bedded in the V-glide greatly enhances the shooting of the springer. So much smoother and with far less recoil and next to no muzzle flip. I have a V-glide kit fitted to my already tuned hw97 which along with its tuned trigger and ambi laminate hw77 sporter stock is a brilliantly accurate .177 target rifle. Scarily accurate and beautiful.

Nice one man. Thanks for the reply.

So I go ahead and get a standard v-Mach kit sorted within the rifle itself and look at the glide system as a kinda stage 2? Spoke to mr pope today as it happens, very informative indeed. I was gonna get a Mach kit from him sent to Ray Walker for implementing. I'd be happy for someone who knows the process of tuning the rifle this way but naturally, I'm kept back by the saying 'if you want a job done... Do it yourself' but I just don't have the know how to make the job as good as I'd like it to be and I'm perhaps forced into allowing someone else do the job for me.

What was the process you went through can I ask?

Thanks in advance.

Its not difficult mate.

No need to go V-mach then V-glide.

There is lots of stuff on youtube that show how to dismantle the rifle.

Talk to Steve about getting the glide done.

You may even benefit from sending him the whole rifle.

I simply sent him my hw97 piston and cylinder and Steve worked his magic on it.

Very simple to pop in.

Type in Tracey Birkin to you tube and you will see his vids on dismantling the rifle and fitting a glide kit.

Even though he is working on a 97 the basics are the same, not much to these rifles really.

Tuning the trigger is a bit fiddly.

If you want send the trigger to me and i will do it for nowt. Takes me a morning with a good few tea breaks ;-)

Regards
