very smart court you knocked up there,do any you lads with this type of thing ever worry about ferrets falling from height we all know they can be boisterous when playing, just got me thinking thats all

That's why ours has a thick layer of straw all over the floor: and they love burrowing under it too. You might think it would be a real mess, but they have two toilet corners and only use them, and the rest of the straw stays clean. We lost an almost full grown kit many years ago when he fell from the roof of the hutch inside the court and he broke his back> lesson learned.

I'd always kept my ferrets in fairly big hutches over the years at least 6'x2' with a separate run to go on the lawn to excercise in. Last year I converted one of my kennels almost exactly like the set up socks has. In hutches I've always found the ferrets would pick a latrine corner and stick to it, when introducing a new hutch or after cleaning out I tended to put a little bit of muck in the corner I wanted them to use which in my mind, encouraged them to use it. Since going in the court they seem to shit and piss anywhere? There is a particular corner they use a bit, but generally they seem to crap where they fancy, not behaviour I've ever seen, ferrets being generally very clean animals in my opinion.

I found it to be the same. Its not as bad if your on it constantly, cleaning out the corner. But if one ferret suddenly feels one corner is too dirty, they go elsewhere, followed by the rest of them.

Should be getting the piping by Saturday Colin and I need to order another ferret wheel as the youngsters in my other court play on that one continuously ... That wire isn't normal chicken wire mate its 16 gauge wire there is no way they can chew through it ... It's been on my other court for 5 years and is still in perfect nick ........

Tell Shaunyshauny to make a few nice holes in the wheel for drainage... My young lad complained this morning about the wheel squeeking all night long and keeping him awake...lol

The hob must cover at least 20miles a night on the wheel... he,s a machine.. lol.
