marshman 7,757
I suppose the point I was trying to make was , that with two types of terrier that are so similar such and the fell and the Beddy that you're not really bringing that much new to the mix. I mean I can understand people crossing two different breeds that one might add something that the other lacked . Like a cocker x terrier or a whippet x terrier or whatever cross it just struck me as pointless when either one pure could do the job of the cross. Although I can understand now that the best dog at bushing was a Beddy that you could use , so I get where your coming from now lol . Quote Link to post

Although I have to disagree with you as I can't see where the breed of a dog is irrelevant when breeding cross breeds , and has surely got to be one of the most relevant things to consider when doing any mating ! Brick top 6
Not really considering there two terriers that bush? If he was crossing it with a greyhound then I could see your point Quote Link to post

If he was crossing it with a greyhound then I could see your point so you wouldn't consider the speed at which a Beddy bushes compared to a jack russel relevant ( as you said in a previous post ) when breeding ? morton 5,368
Another reason i did,nt want to put another Fell over the Fell,Marshman,is she was bred from digging dogs, she herself is better suited to bolting than digging to,putting her back to the Fell would have given an higher percentage of producing diggers. The Beddy dog is also a bolting dog, thus a better chance of producing bolters.I work a lot of places that are un-diggable,massive rock piles and quarry slides, the working characteristics of the Beddy/Fell combo is better suited to this type of fox control.Nothing is guaranteed with any breeding,it pays to tip the percentages in your favour with a little careful breeding and planning, hopefully. Anyhow I can see your point and wish you well with your litter And hope you don't get a digging dog ?. Quote Link to post
