Malt 379
You don't live to work, you work to live Very true, but when you actually think about it doesn't that just SUCK!? LOL But needs must mate, I don't think I've met anyone who has never had a bad day at work, anyway.......... Back to the shitiest jobs ever........ Remember getting a clutch to do on a German motor home, was lying underneath it taking gearbox out thinking what the f**k is that smell? Looked behind be and realised the dirty b*****ds hadn't emptied the tank and with me jacking the front end up the pissy shit water was pouring out and the puddle was getting closer and closer, fastest clutch I've ever done... are you a mechanic full time then mate??? Off the tools now mate, workshop control, handing out jobs, time tickets, shit like that Sounds exciting Ross.. Hands are clean malt, don't want to be 50-60 still getting minging lifting gearboxes, wheels, engines etc on a daily basis. Doesn't mean to say I don't miss it, good laugh in the workshop, but I've had to get rid of my silly head (kind off lol) still like a laugh and that, but clean hands and gives my f****d shoulder a rest. And it give me a sense of importance, power and authority............ Must be like what matt the rat feels like on here!!! Not just Matt, we all get it from time to time! My current job ain't that bad, dropping hire cars off to customers and picking them up. Get to drive a few nice cars from time to time and all. In most of the jobs I've had driving has been seen as a skive from the main work so at the minute 90% of my day feels like skiving off! The only thing that feels like work is when we have to clean the cars before they have to go out but I don't spend a lot of time doing it. Think the novelty will start wearing off once the tourists start hitting the roads though!

NEWKID 27,123
I've been on the buildings all my working life.. My worst boss was either my dad or a real prick of a builder.. My dad was an aggressive sort so shouting is the only way to communicate when working, he had a couple of weeks with no roofs in, both me and my brother were set a task to keep us busy( we were 16 and 18 years old).. The old mans back garden was huge, we had the last house on the estate and it backed onto a field which dropped steeply down to some woods. You could access the field through the council garages.. Now the garden dropped steeply to the field, so he built a 6ft retaining wall around the bottoms and up one side, then our job began.. Day after day road lorries ( one of his mates sorted) would turn up at the bottom of the hill and dump tons of earth,we'd then barrow it up the hill and into the garden... Occasionally shouted at for some reason or other.. It was f***ing hard work and I don't mind grafting but I was sick of the sight of earth come the end lol...there are literally hundreds of tons of soil and rubble in that back garden which was all wheel barrelled in... dytkos 17,784
Having read the whole topic, I've come to the conclusion that most of you are a set of lazy, work shy feckers LOL Something dangerous like Socks, did, down the pit, feck that mind but mostly a bit of hard graft never hurt anybody. I spent 6 years as the engineer at an animal by-products factory. Many a time I've had to jump into a hopper and shovel away a few hundred weight of animal guts, carcasses etc to get to and repair a bearing etc that had failed. It wasn't great, but it paid the mortgage and gave me a decent if not fantastic quality of life at the time Cheers, D.

collie/grey 238
It's not so much the jobs I've had, it's the people I have had to work for or with. I used to be a full time groom on a livery yard and riding school, loved the horses and didn't mind the graft that went with it but getting shouted at and belittled everyday in front of people for the slightest little mistake which was caused by someone else giving mis information or lack of was the most soul destroying and on top of that being paid peanuts and worked like hell for it. Never again.

patterdalejoel 669
nowt better than working on a farm! ye 90% of it is shitty boring cold and repetitive, but getting to blast round the dales on a quad feeding sheep or watching the collies gather a big pack of sheep in make it worthwhile, and you never look out the window on a sunny day wishing you were outside, but you wish you were inside when its pissing down!!
