Donate An Airgun?

Hi,

my partner's cousin Billy has learning difficulties (down syndrome) and has recently got a voluntary job on a local farm park. He is really getting into country life, knows I go shooting and is taking a keen interest, so his Dad has asked if I can find him a cheap air rifle for his birthday. They have access to land and I will be teaching Billy to shoot, so if anyone has an old gun knocking about they would consider donating I will gratefully take it. Anything considered, if it needs a bit of TLC or whatever that's fine.

North Bucks area, but will travel.

To me, it seems a little too generic, unless this has been waved by a moderator (as it's a 1st post) who's possibly spoken to this person?

 

My personal thought would be that they wouldn't be able to use one?

Surely the law and any insurance company's would avoid anyone with learning disabilities to use a firearm of any sort as injury or damage would be imminent.

 

This has to be a hoax though.

Personally, if you're teaching him to shoot, it would make sense to get something he is comfortable with. So you should probably get him started on your guns, then see what kind of thing he prefers.

My post is 100% genuine - I believed (wrongly, it would seem) that if anyone had a cheap airgun hanging around that they would be happy for it to be used to facilitate a young disabled lad's ability to to take up a worthwhile hobby.

Some of the responses above are just awful. A real shame.
