I remember being sat in traffic outside valley parade and watching the ambulances rushing folk to hospital. There were that many people in them they couldn't shut the doors. Horrific sight. jessdale 416
The speed that fire spread was incredible. Watch it on youtube. Very sad when someone goes to the match and never returns home.
socks 32,253
When you watch the footage you realise how ignorant people are to the ferocity of fire and how quick it can kill ... In theory everybody should have been out of that stand and away to safety as there was a few minuets when the fire hadn't caught properly ... But because people don't realise how quick fire can spread they didn't feel threatened until it was way to late ........

NEWKID 27,666
When you watch the footage you realise how ignorant people are to the ferocity of fire and how quick it can kill ... But because people don't realise how quick fire can spread they didn't feel threatened until it was way to late ........So true mate, I had to do a fire Marshall course last year.... What an eye opener to people's ignorance to fire, some of the footage we watched was terrible and at the same time so preventable... 90% of the people in these situations never made a decision to head to an exit until the flames were licking their ass, one was a club in America where a band had a pyrotechnic display, the stage was alight where it went so wrong and the crowd were still stood there cheering and clapping, f***ing mental 90 odd people died... The Bradford City was terrible, and changed stadium safety in this country forever, Exeter City's still got an old stand with wooden seating and flooring, I was up there looking at some refurb work for them on the stand, the head groundsman was telling me how it never went up in flames before the smoking ban he'll never know, under the wooden floors they found hundreds of old programs, newspapers etc, and in amongst it all loads of fag butts, pure luck it never went up... blackmaggie 3,377
true socks remember talking to some Bradford fans that were there that day and they said it was the speed of the fire spreading that caught them out but not to have any kind of respect is a total disgrace
gnasher16 30,535
always forget about this one, Liverpool could do with taking a leaf out of Bradford's book....... Sounds cold to say that but when you see how Bradford seems to have been forgotten it makes you wonder............then again look how Heysel has been forgotten and people were imprisoned for that !!
