stroller 341
I've seen a nice little Franchi harrier 20 bore at a decent price, I have never shot a 20 bore for game shooting does anyone have any preferences or advice? I haven't as yet tried the gun for the all important fit but the measurements seem about right I have a Franchi semi auto which is a brilliant gun and hasn't given me a spot of bother so I'm not put off by the Franchi name. I do a fair bit of game shooting theses days from driven grouse to pigeons but I still love a day in the rough rabbit shooting over all of them Quote Link to post

The one 8,474
Aren't some 20 bores built on a 12 bore frame so they can be easier on the shoulder if your doing a lot of shooting or are slightly built Quote Link to post

The one 8,474
Aye the 20 bore was always considered a step up to a 12 bore or the ladies equivalent of the 12 bore Quote Link to post

trigger2 3,141
if your a good shot then a 20 bore is as good a 12 bore imo Quote Link to post

toby63 1,236
if your just doing general rough shooting or hide shooting then 20g will be fine .mind you some model can weigh the same as a 12g.yrs ago i had a rizzini 3" chamber .and that was quite heavy. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I like the 20 for rough shooting because mine is lightweight. Like Paulus said, it is pointless carrying a 20 then weighing yourself down with heavy cartridges, not to mention your shoulder when you fire them through an already light gun. Never found the need for more than 28gr in a 20 or a 12 to be honest. Quote Link to post

I started on a 12G (Lanber Sporter, it was light mounting a fence stab to my shoulder lol), went on to a 20G (Browning Citori) and then back onto a 12G again (Lincoln Premier Gold, fab gun) which is actually lighter than the 20 I had lol. But yes the fact the 20 cartridges are dearer irritated me and also by going back to a 12G I can mooch cartridges off boyfriend Quote Link to post

jennym 39
Yeah I usually shoot 28grams through 12G, no need for anything heavier cos if I'm on target I'm on target. I go down to a 24gram if I go to clays, same reason. Quote Link to post
