Chid 6,588
Its terrible, and all to common. Also, I believe that the farmer gets compensation? And that compensation comes from the government, so ultimately the tax payer - well, 38,000 cows has to be over 30,000,000 quids worth. . . . . you dont get a lot of money for cull cattle

Mickey Finn 3,016
That is sad. TB showed up in our deer herd 15 years ago or so. They were worried about it spreading to the cattle, so you could shoot as many does as you wished for a while there. I feel for the farmers losing their stock.

As they're oblivious to what's going on in the real world, all these antis are too quick to want everything banned but have yet to cough up any money of their own or come up with proper real world solutions to the very real problem of btb. As we all know there's an environmentally friendly, cost free way that it can be done by the thousands of men and women who could have it stamped out in no time. Where oh where is our leaders in power with a back bone?
sussex 5,777
Fcuk ...that was a hard watch .Really felt for the man , these politicians really do need to get some balls & get this problem sorted .The number of badgers is now beyond belief , on a trip from sussex to Hampshire & back we counted 21 dead badgers !! (good riddance ) compared to 5dead foxes ..Their either four times worse at crossing the road or their is four times more of them ....
paulus 26
control needs to be handed back to the farmers, culling at local level is the only way forward, however this will be a nightmare for all concerned due to red tape and regulations,
Snifferboy 659
That kind of gives you a bit of food for thought, the last 2 bits of permission I have picked up the Farmers have been on T.B. restrictions and asked out right if there was anything I can do about them… What else can you say other categorically no! As 2 lads going out lamping one with 2 lurchers another with a .22-250 can attract enough of the wrong attention should the wrong person notice the lamp in the field… You don't usually get to see just how badly it affects the farmers, most just think they are upset because it their pockets are affected and not their families and feelings and so on…. It is no wonder that so many can't see any other way out and end up committing suicide, its a crying shame...
rabbit demon 302
Poor guy, can't help but feel sorry for him, don't see why badgers don't be culled to keep their numbers down, they aren't exactly rare, they spread disease to other animals, diseases have a habit of evolving and are always infecting new hosts, if 1 in 3 have BTB the government want to get their finger out their arse and either find a cure, remove or put a culling programme in place where their numbers are kept managable where they ain't causing havoc to the farmers, theirs tons of them where I walk the dog, I believe any pest animal on your land you should be allowed to deal with one way or another.
