Bootsha 1,306
speak as you find, first lurcher i ever had was off a dogwarden who came by as a re homing case, it was a young cx g lurcher bitch bred my hancock..... she was as good a feereting / lamping bitch as youd find, mark holes a treat, mark a fox a completely different way, plainly obvious what she was marking, fabulous nose on her, stamina, very easy on the eye as well as a bi product.......................... only fault with her for me was she may have marked a fox to ground, but if she didnt have a bit of company when it bolted she was as usefull as tits on a bull....otherwise couldnt fault her tbh. Dengil 27
How much are the Hancock lurchers nowadays ? just had a quick look on his website and seen he got about 3 litters for sale. I really fancy a collie cross myself for my next dog but would try and source one from working stock first. 1 Quote Link to post

robin hood 109
you get out what you put in anyone can ruin a dog, someone who puts the time in and knows what hes doing will always have decent dogs even if its off handcock, dog pound or a give away, effort goes a long way 2 Quote Link to post
Dengil 27
I've not much experience of Hancock dogs and only really know two people who had them, one was a pet home and the dog suited the families outdoor, camping etc lifestyle and was perfect for what they wanted. The other was a beardie cross that an old boy i knew a few years ago got from a rescue. He used it for a bit of daytime rabbiting and nightime lamping the dog was ok for what he wanted, both were good looking dogs. I've read theres alot of mixed opinions on here so i'll sit on the fence with this one having not owned one myself. I spoke to someone last week who claimed that Hancock dogs are going for around £600 to £800 if bought direct from him, is this true or an exageration? as it sounds very excessive when there is hundreds of lurchers for sale all over the internet for far less. roybo 2,873
I think the point is ,by buying off him you are perpetuating the farming of countless litters from none working dogs,a lot have been said to be nervous wrecks,I'd sooner but a collie cross off someone who works ,socialises ,and is actually interested in how his pups end up. I'm sure this has been done to death, but from the hundreds bred by him there's bound to be a few decent ones but why give him the market ffs 1 Quote Link to post
