You'll need a scope too (look for the Hawke 4x32 for about £25-30) as there are no open sites on the gun. Full legal power, cracking little vermin tool that'll give you plenty in return if you look after it. No problems with rabbits at all. Have a look at the Webley Xocet and Stingray too... Guest whippet Posted September 8, 2005 Report Share Posted September 8, 2005 That's the same with a lot of Lightnings, they've advertised as 12ft/lb but average about 10 ft/lb. Join up on www.airgunbbs.com and keep an eye out on the sales section on there. I'm whippet.22 on there so if you have any queries just Private Message me and I'll try and help. I own a Lightning in .22 and regret buying it; the trigger is crap, the scope rail is a different size to most scope rails which means the only mounts you can use are made by BSA and cost 40 quid :realmad: (you can physically use other mounts but they are not in line with the bore of the airgun, which basically means that if you say zeroed in at 15 yards, by 30 yards the pellets would be hitting either to the left or right), the gun recoils a lot for a springer which makes it hard for a learner to consistantly use and also can knacker a lot of scopes (it shagged up my first scope), and the fecking spring broke after not even owning it for a year. Luckily it was still under warranty so I got it repaired free. Whatever you get, get it in .177, it has a flatter trajectory than .22 which means that if you judge the range a little wrong you are less likely to miss or wound your quarry. A good gun for you would a be a second-hand Weirauch, you can pick one of them up on the sales section of the BBS for a lot less than you'd pay new. There's also a lot of cheap secondhand scopes on there. The trigger's and accuracy of Weirauchs are excellent. I don't mean to be a doom-monger but I'd hate for you to make the same mistake I did, some people think Lightnings are great, I think they're a load of crap. What you choose to do is ultimately up to you, but don't rush into buying something without seeing what else is around. Quote Link to post

Jordan 1 Posted September 10, 2005 Report Share Posted September 10, 2005 supersports are the dogs danglies my mate has one in .177 he had a spring made for it and its now kicking out about 11.8ftlbs he can hit 2ps at 45 yards with it. unfortunately he only uses it for target shooting :realmad: what a waste Quote Link to post
